Building Strong Foundations - Mastering the Rook

At Genesis: House of Chess, we believe that if the foundation is strong and we give the kids a strong start, the rest of the game will follow naturally. If the kids learn why and how behind the game from a very young age, they don't just play the game, they master every move with their perfect strategies and focus.

On January 4th,Kids as Young as 4.5 years old took their first steps towards building their foundation. Our little kids Rania and Umer spent an inspiring session learning all about the Rook, strengthening their basics.

Remembering What We Learned

As we believe that strong foundation is the secret to a great Checkmate! The young kids revisited all the previous topics which they've learned so far. From the pieces' names, to the points of each piece's value, they showed an impressive memory and true passion for the game which in itself is a great thing for these kids.

Finding the Most Powerful Pieces

A chunk of the session was dedicated to learning about the most powerful pieces on the board "The Heavy Hitters" so kids know exactly how to protect those pieces and ensuring that young learners make better choices while playing on the boards without getting overwhelmed.

Learning About the Mighty Rook

The highlight of the session was Introduction to the Mighty "Rook." To better simplify the topic for better understanding, our trainer taught them to look for a long and undisturbed path for its movement and helped them identify "open roads" for their pieces.

Applying the Lesson

Once the explanation was over, the kids jumped into a practical worksheet, this helped them

understand the lesson better from understanding the rules to actually applying it in the game.

A Strong Start for the Bright Future

We're glad to see the progress of our kids so far which they've showed through their passion and commitment which makes us realize that the future of Chess is bright in Pakistan. The mastering the basics, they're not only setting themselves for the success later but also proving themselves as young chess players.
