Prep Day for NYCC 2026

With the National Youth Chess Championship 2026 just around the corner, things are getting serious at the Academy as our kids will be heading to the CMA Community Hall from 5th - 8th February to test their Chess skills at the National Level.

Preparation day Under the Guidance of Sir Tayyab

“Preparation is the key to confidence.”

To ensure that our students feel confident and prepared, a preparation session was held at Genesis House of Chess on 22nd January 2026 which was led by Sir Tayyab. He shared his deep knowledge and expertise with the kids. From basic key rules for any tournament to make kids feel confident about themselves that they have the capacity to participate at National level everything was taught.

The session wasn’t just about moving pieces on the board, it was also about how to stay calm and patient under pressure, manage their time in the best possible manner and how to think several steps ahead.

Several topics on which kids focused on:

1. Chess Notation: Sir Tayyab provided the young players with a deep dive into the art of notation, ensuring they can now record every move of their games with precision and confidence.

2. Classical Thinking: Kids learnt about how to think wisely before moving each piece and analyzing the consequences.

3. Time Management: Our Young Champions got a better understanding of how to manage their time in the long matches.

4. Game Strategy: Fixing the most common mistakes which they are most likely to make.

5. Illegal moves: Our rising stars spent their time learning about Illegal moves to avoid technical penalties and consequences during the event.

Why This Matters:

For our Young Competitors, it’s not just about winning the trophy, it’s about meeting new friends, learning to lose gracefully, respecting opponents and learning sportsmanship. No matter in which category they are participating in - the experience they will gain will stay with them forever and will be beneficial for them.

Success is a team effort:

We want to say thanks to all the parents for supporting and trusting us with their kid’s Chess journey. We also want to thank Sir Tayyab for his efforts for his incredible guidance as it all reminds us of why we do what we do. This journey to the National Championship is a team effort, and seeing our Genesis family come together like this is truly special.
