Silver for Mahrez in CFRT 2026

Just a few weeks have passed in the New Year and here is Mahrez again, continuing to prove himself as one of the young rising stars among the Karachi Young Chess Players.

On 24th’January - 2026 Mahrez participated in Cognivia Under 16 Tournament in which he remained unbeaten throughout the event. The young player faced some tough opponents including Masir Swaleheen, Amaan Saad, and Shahan Yasir. Despite the fact that he faced some of the kids older than him, he won 6 rounds and one close draw against higher rated U-16 player Jawwad Daniyal.

Because of the tie-break rule, Mahrez secured the Second position and brought home the Silver Medal. At the end of an event his score was 6.5. It was a fast paced event with a Time Control of 15 minutes for every player but The resilient competitor competed well and played perfectly.

Just two weeks ago, Mahrez won a Gold Medal in Chess Edicts New Year Open Tournament held on 11th January. Mahrez is having a start to the new year with two back to back victories within a time span of just 15 days. We wish him all the best for his future events.
