“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” — Brian Herbert
Growth is not a goal, it's a responsibility. With this vision in mind and considering the fact that at GCA we believe that in order to work on a grassroots level and produce Famous Chess players from Pakistan we must need to upgrade and empower ourselves. and for this purpose a two day workshop was held at Genesis House of Chess on 12 and 19th of December on Fridays for the trainers, which was designed to redefine the standards of chess coaching. The workshop was hosted and led by Our Director Sir Mohammad Ebad and attended by our dedicated trainers.
The Fundamental of the workshop was majorly based on Dynamics of group class setting. Teaching Chess in a group requires a lot of patience, strategies and balance to maintain individuality of each student as well so that all the students regardless of their learning pace and their age. stay engaged and motivated throughout the sessions and don't lose their interest in the middle of classes. Our Coaches shared real stories of the kids to ensure that the classes remain exciting for all the kids in the group and while learning from the coach they stay inspired to pick up new ideas from their peers during the session.
“Knowledge is a treasure, but practice and constant learning are the keys to it.”
Be it academic or Chess education, It’s an evolving art. The significant part of the meeting was based on upgrading our teaching methodologies in the modern era of Chess as the traditional methods are not enough.
We discussed to use story telling methods to describe complex opening principles instead of just memorizing the pieces as the young kids learn faster through it instead of theories and detailed lectures and the information sticks to them and they knows the logics behind the board
Chess is a mental game, so we focus on Psychological Readiness. Our coaches are trained to help students handle the "highs" of winning and the "lows" of losing. By learning to stay calm under pressure, our students become more resilient, both in tournaments and in life.
The workshop was not just theory based, it was a collaborative learning experience for all the trainers as they shared ideas and teaching approaches with each other under the guidance of Sir M.Ebad ensuring that the team aligns with GCA’s vision and excellence, professionalism and continuous improvement.
These meetings reaffirms GCA’s commitment to upgrading ourselves and serving the nation even better in the upcoming years. By investing in our trainers and empowering them we ensure that our students receive the best possible learning experience as per our capabilities.
The lessons from these meetings will be felt in every session online & offline as we’re not just teaching moves we are trying our best to build the Future for Chess in Pakistan.
