On Thursday, 16th of April '2026 the Young Chess enthusiasts stepped into the world of strategy, focus and logic and played their first ever tournament with pure excitement. From 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. The After School Program Trained and guided by GCA’s trainers Sir Ammad and Ms Yousra transformed into a Chess Arena.
The tournament followed a Knockout Format and a Time Control of 10+0 with 9 passionate Contenders pusing kids to play strategically and stay sharp during the event.
The tournament started with an outstanding match between Irha and Zayna in which Zayna secured a victory against Irha and moved forward.
As the tournament was progressing up, the pressure was also building among the competitors and the event became more exciting
Reyansh defeated Zayna with strong gameplay
Mikael outplayed Rayan Domki in a focused match
Pareezay secured victory against Haneen
Taqi overcame Khwaja Ibrahim to advance
Each game showcased their strengthened chess skills.
During the Semi Finale Top players were brought face to face and the matches were played between
Reyansh and Taqi in which Reyansh defeated Taqi and continued his strong performance
Mikael played a solid game to win against Pareezay.
Then, a match was played between Rayan Domki and Pareezay in which Rayaan showed great resilience and earned a well deserved spot for the finals
The final match brought excitement and intensity as Taqi faced Mikael in a gripping contest. Both players showed excellent skill, but it was Taqi who held his nerve and emerged victorious.
Taqi obtained 1st Position with a remarkable Score of 3 / 3 Points
Mikael Motiwala secured 2nd Position earning 2.5 / 3 Points
Rayan Domki got 3rd Position with a Score of 2 / 3 Points
The tournament was more than just played matches and a day of pure learning and even each lost match was a lesson in itself for these young kids. Each participant showed great sportsmanship and courage, making it a proud moment for the trainers and the school.
With such promising talent, the future of these young chess players looks incredibly bright. ♟️
